FIFTY fishermen from Pugaro and Carael in Dagupan City received a stock of 400,000  bangus fry produced by the BFAR-NIFTDC last Friday.

The fry stock was part of the four million pledged to Dagupan by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource- National Integrated Fisheries Technology Development Center (BFAR-NIFTDC) headed by Dr. Westly Rosario to help local fish farmers affected by Typhoon “Pepeng” last year.

Each fish farmer received 10,000 bangus fry, handed out by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, which is suitable for a one-hectare fishpond.

The first allocation of two million fry, earlier dispersed proportionately to other fish farmers in the city, was deemed insufficient and the city government sought an additional two million.–LM
