2010 PRISAA-UCAAP kicks off July 22
THE scramble for the 2010 PRISAA-UCAAP Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship starts on July 22 at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome at 9:00 a.m.
Dgupan City Mayor Benjamin Lim will be the guest of honor and speaker while Atty. Gonzalo Duque, national chairman of PRISAA, will formally welcome the delegations from the nine participating teams led by defending champion Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU).
The other participating teams are: Pangasinan University of Northern Philippines (PUNP), University of Luzon (UL), University of Pangasinan (UPang)), AIE College, Colegio de Dagupan (CdD), Pangasinan Institute of Maritime Studies and Technology (PIMSAT), Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA) and AMA Computer Dagupan.
Seato Gonimil, executive director of UCAAP, said matches start after the opening ceremony with LNU battling PAMMA in the first game while 2008 titlist UL tangles with CdD in the second pairing.
Last year’s runner-up PUNP will collide with UPang in the third match and AIE College versus PIMSAT in the main event.
“It’s a wide open contest this year for the nine teams because four of the seeded squads, namely: LNU, UL, PUNP and UPang have young crews from high school. Most of their veteran players had already graduated,” said Gonimil.
PRISAA Metro Dagupan president Arturo Tangco said the admission fee will be P30.00.
The tourney will last up to September or early October.–JAGJr.
