NBI appeals for land donation

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will reiterate its request to the Dagupan City government to donate and turn over to the agency the 500 square meter lot on which its building on Babaliwan area in Barangay Poblacion Oeste stands.

Atty. Dave Alunan, NBI executive officer, said the lot is owned by the city of Dagupan and is leased to the NBI at P1 a year.

He said the NBI has long been pushing for the transfer of the lot but the city government does not appear keen on the request.

Pointing out the new location of the new police headquarters located along A,B. Fernandez Avenue, Alunan said a permanent and improved facility for the NBI will enhance coordination between the two agencies.

The NBI wants to improve its existing building but it cannot do so until the land is donated to the agency.

Alunan said other towns including Rosales and Alaminos City are interested to host the agency.

The NBI building is considered a landmark in the city because it was the very first NBI building in Central and Northern Luzon. .—LM
