THERE is nothing wrong with congressional fund initiatives as long as they are used and managed properly, the congressman-elect of the 2nd District told a media forum Friday.

Retired police Director Leopoldo Bataoil, speaking at the weekly Engkwentro forum of the Pangasinan Press Club, assured that congressional funds allocated for his district will fully redound to the benefit of his constituents.

Bataoil said he is amenable to the proposal to adopt the so-called online budgeting for projects to be pursued by congressmen in their respective areas idea pointing out that he espouses full transparency in the implementation of projects.

Congressmen are allotted at least P70 million for their Poverty Alleviation Development Fund (PDAF) every year.

Meanwhile, Bataoil said he is presently talking with a coalition that advocates peace and development that will work readily with the incoming administration.

Following 33 years in the police force, Bataoil said he is still learning the ins-and-outs of politics and is consulting with various sectors including his predecessor, Rep. Victor E. Agbayani, to prepare himself for his new job.
