Shahani, 5 others join 6 re-elected BMs

LINGAYEN–Former Vice Governor Ranjit Ramos Shahani returns to the provincial government service after he was elected as one of the two provincial board members from the 6th District.

He will join five new faces in the provincial board: Napoleon Fontelera Jr. and outgoing Alaminos City Vice Mayor Teofilo Humilde Jr., both of the 1st District; Generoso Tulagan Jr. of the 3rd District; outgoing San Fabian Mayor Mojamito Libunao of the 4th District; and outgoing Alcala Vice Mayor Clemente Arboleda Jr. in the 5th district.

The old and familiar faces in the provincial board are: Von Mark Mendoza and outgoing ex-officio Board Member Raul Sison, president of the Philippine Councilors League chapter, both of the 2nd District; re-elected Board Member Angel Baniqued of the 3rd District; re-elected Board Member Jeremy Rosario of the 4th District; and reelected Board Member Danilo Uy of the 5th District.

Shahani, also a former congressman of the district for two terms, topped the race for board members, got 78,051 votes, higher than re-elected Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr.’s 77,265 votes.

Shahani, nephew of former President Fidel V. Ramos and son of former Senator Leticia Ramos Shahani, is expected to be picked as the provincial board’s minority floor leader.

The incoming provincial board will be headed by newly-elected Vice Governor Ferdinand Calimlim as presiding officer.—LM7
