SM honors three Pangasinan achievers
TWO generations of achievers from Pangasinan were recently honored by SM City Rosales mall through its “My City, My SM” campaign.
The honorees were F. Sionil Jose, National Artist for Literature and a Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, Samantha Glo Revita, the chess prodigy who brought home the gold during the Asean Age Group in 2007, 2008, and 2009; and Sudoku grandmaster Sarah Jane Cua, Brand’s 1st Asia-Pacific Sudoku Challenge winner.
The tribute included the setting up of a library showcasing F. Sionil Jose’s books and panels about his best known novels, the five-book Rosales Saga.
A giant chessboard designed by Gabriel Richardo, was put on display for Revita while huge Sudoku boards, complemented with landscaping by Gideon Hermosa, were set up for Cua.
Fourth District Rep. Jose de Venecia came with his wife Gina and son Kristoffer to grace the affair.
Governor Amado Espino Jr. and Rosales Municipal Mayor Ricardo V. Revita led the tribute that culminated in the opening of the two giant books honoring Mr. Jose, Revita and Cua.
During the program, audio-visual presentations were shown about Rosales and Pangasinan along with an exhibit organized by the Provincial Tourism and Rosales Municipal Tourism Offices.
Performances by the Calasiao Children’s Choir, Music from the Heart, the Pangasinan Provincial Chorale, and the Matalunggaring Dance Troupe entertained the guests.
The My City, My SM event in Rosales is the seventh in a tourism campaign that highlights the cities where SM is located.
