San Carlos poll bets sign peace covenant

SAN CARLOS CITY–Two days before the official start of the campaign for local positions 
on March 26, a peace covenant was signed by the candidates here at the Saint Dominic Church in an event that was open to the public to witness.

City election officer Gloria Cadiente said the candidates committed themselves to an honest, orderly and peaceful elections by not resorting to the use of guns, goons and gold in their campaign.

The candidates also pledged to conduct their campaign under the law in the spirit of good grace and friendly rivalry.

Those who signed the peace covenant were incumbent Mayor Julier C. Resuello, former 3rd District Rep. Generoso DC Tulagan and Julito M. Casillan II, candidates for the mayoralty posts; incumbent Vice-Mayor Joseres S. Resuello, incumbent Councilor Samuel C. Millora and incumbent Board member Romeo H. Dadacay, for vice-mayoralty posts.

The two Resuellos support the administration’s Lakas-Kampi-CMD/Biskeg na Pangasinan, the opposition candidates party Tulagan-Millora tandem carry the Liberal Party, while Casillan and Dadacay run under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) party.

Candidates for councilor of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD/Biskeg na Pangasinan who signed the peace covenant were Orlando E. Banaag, Jr.; Voltaire Enrico R. Cabuay; Alberto S. Castro; Emilio G. Garcia; Emmanuel F. Paningbatan; Manuel V. Resuello; Rodolfo B. Samson; Vici MC. Ventanilla and Mienrado L. Ynzon, Sr.

For LP: Narciso S. Bandong; Rj A. Bernal; Marciano C. De Guzman; Eduardo R. Garcia; Jonathan R. Lomboy; Romeo S. Padilla; Vicente DC. Tulagan, Jr.

Independent candidates for councilor who signed the peace covenant were Lito C. Banaag; Maria P. Boquiren; Rolando V. Casillan, Jr.; Cynthia DL. Garcia and Leonardo S. Gutierrez.

The candidates for councilor who failed to sign the peace covenant were Emmanuel P. Samera (LP); Joselito D. Garcia (PMP); Gil M. Fermin (LP); Amelia P. Cayabyab (Lakas-Kampi-CMD/Biskeg na Pangasinan); Jack Lester P. Soriano (LP); Manuel T. Sabangan (Independent) and Florencio B. Bagaforo, Jr. (PMP).

Reverend Father Winston Estrada who officiated the Mass, San Carlos City chief of police Supt. Noel Vallo, Cadiente and members of the media and party representatives, signed the covenant as witnesses.
