Rosario-Merrera tandem proclaimed in Binmaley
BINMALEY—Local candidates here under the ticket of re-electionist Mayor Simplicio Rosario and Vice Mayor Pete Merrera held a unique proclamation rally on Friday.
Instead of having a known high-ranking partymate to proclaim the candidates by raising their hands, supporters among the townsfolk did the honor of raising the candidates’ hands.
About 3,000 Binmaleynians from different barangays gathered at the public auditorium to participate and witness the proclamation. They expressed their support with a minute of uninterrupted shouting and applause for the Rosario-Merrera tandem and their eight candidates for councilor.
“Your presence tonight without any incentives or giveaways except for a merienda of a piece of bread and a small plastic glass of juice so you will not go hungry is a strong manifestation that your really love us,” Rosario said.
Rosario, seeking his third and last term as mayor filed his candidacy under the Liberal Party-Biskeg na Pangasinan ticket while Merrera, eyeing his second term, is an independent bet.
“From a sleepy town, we transformed Binmaley into an envy of many towns in Pangasinan,” he declared.
