GAB gets Erap, Velarde endorsement

THE GAB team composed of Gina de Venecia, Alipio Fernandez Jr. and Belen Fernandez have received the endorsement of presidential candidate Joseph Estrada and the influential religious leader Brother Mike Velarde, founder of the El Shaddai movement.

Estrada, standard bearer of the Pwersa ng Masa, endorsed GAB when he and his team held their political rally on Galvan Street in Dagupan City Saturday night.

On the same day, the GAB team was invited by Velarde as guests during the well-attended El Shaddai rally at the Dagupan City Plaza where Velarde asked members of his flock to support the three.

De Venecia is running as 4th district representative, a position that her husband, Jose de Venecia Jr., is vacating. Alipio Fernandez, incumbent Dagupan mayor, and Belen Fernandez, incumbent vice mayor, are both running for re-election.

VILLAR’S DENIAL

Meanwhile, De Venecia expressed regret that Nacionalista Party standard bearer Manny Villar disowned her nomination by the party but she is unfazed by this turn of events.

De Venecia stands firm on her claim that it was Villar himself who signed her Certificate of Nomination (CONA).

De Venecia was also nominated by the Pwersa ng Masa, the National People’s Coalition and the Liberal Party, aside from the NP.

Councilor Farah Decano, incumbent president of the Lady Legislators League of the Philippines and three-term councilor of Dagupan City, said there is no reason why Mrs. De Venecia would invent a CONA issued by Villar.

She added that Mrs. De Venecia does not need the endorsement of the Villar.

“In fact, it is Villar who needs the support of a stronger local candidate,” Decano said.

Dagupan City Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo agreed with Decano saying, “We all know that the 4th district is the De Venecia political bailiwick.”–LM
