Dagupeno artist on Dagupena environmentalist
A young Dagupeno artist will be among the celebrated artists whose work will be featured in the 2010 Walong Filipina Exhibit at the Liongoren Gallery in Dagupan City in observance of Earth Day.
Jojit Solano a 27-year old artist based in Dagupan City, had the opportunity to depict Dr. Judea “Dea” Millora, a Dagupena known for her eco-waste management expertise with great hopes in changing people’s lives, in a painting.
Millora, founder and president of Zero Kalat Para sa Kaunlaran Foundation, Inc. (ZKKFI), is one of eight women environmentalists honored in the exhibit.
Titled “Out of the Black”, Solano’s painting conveys a message about enlightenment and change. He saw Dr. Dea as a woman whose main aspiration “is to change the people in communities through working with members of the neighborhood not as a professional but as a concerned Filipino citizen and as an equal.”
Workshops and fora on environmental protection with 2 honorees as resource persons will be conducted during the run of the exhibition: April 17-May 1, 2010 Liongoren Gallery 301 Tapuac Dist., Dagupan City.
Dra. Millora will talk on Sustainable Eco-waste Management and Mrs. Robledo on butterfly gardening at 4pm. April 17.
The exhibit is sponsored by the Platowraps and UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority Alumnae Association. For inquiries please call Norma 09178874319. The public is invited.
