Binmaley mayor gets death threats

BINMALEY—The incumbent municipal mayor has taken extra safety measures for his protection amid persistent threats to his life.

However, Mayor Simplicio Rosario, who is running for reelection for a third and last term of office under the Biskeg Pangasinan party, remains unfazed having been through the same situation in 2007, yet he won by a large margin.

He expressed more concern about the series of black propaganda he claims being resorted to by his political opponents among them the lie that he is extremely ill supposedly as evidenced by his scarce presence in campaign sorties.

“I seldom do sorties precisely to as a precautionary measure in the light of the threats I’ve been getting, ,” Rosario said in a talk to newsmen at the Binmaley Museum.

But he stressed he had not missed a single campaign rally with his team, with his running mate Vice Mayor Pete Merrera,

Rosario also deplored another dirty trick being employed by his opponents, circulating a four–page pamphlet that would appear at first glance to be his own.

But the content, he said, are all derogatory to him.

“My opponents appear desperate but I am not taking any chances,” he said.

Rosario challenged his opponent to conduct a high-level campaign instead of resorting to black propaganda and muckraking. LM
