2 Asna awardees commended
STA. BARBARA–Two sons of Sta. Barbara who were among the first batch of Asna awardees during the first celebration of Agew na Pangasinan last April 5 received another special commendation, this time from their hometown’s government.
“We commend Police Superintendent Eric E. Noble and Santiago B. Villafania for giving honor and prestige to our beloved hometown Sta. Barbara,” said Mayor Reynaldo Velasco.
Velasco handed plaques of recognition and appreciation to the two during the weekly flag-raising ceremony on April 19 here.
The two also received commendation contained in an official resolution from the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor and presiding officer Ruben Jose.
“These achievements are in line with our Ten-Point Progress Agenda particularly in the area of Values Formation and Strengthening… We hope that others will follow so that we will be able to highlight Sta. Barbara not only in the map of Pangasinan but of the whole country,” Velasco said.
Noble, former Sta. Barbara Police chief, was recipient of two major national awards, namely: the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) and Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award.
Asna cited Noble for his work in the field of Community Service while Villafania, a poet now based in Cavite, was recognized for promoting and developing the Pangasinan language through his writings.-LM
