LINGAYEN–Eleven Pangasinenses will receive the 1st ASNA awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements on April 5 during the first-ever celebration of the Agew na Pangasinan.

The establishment of the annual ASNA Award is a recommendation of the special research group commissioned to establish the founding date of the province.

Atty. Gonzalo Duque, who chaired the research group and head of the committee tasked to oversee the Agew na Pangasinan celebration, said it is about time the province pays tribute to Pangasinenses whose selfless dedication to their profession or vocation has resulted in outstanding contributions to the welfare of the public.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. said the ASNA awards will serve as an inspiration to other Pangasinenses, especially the youth, to strive hard to succeed in their chosen field.

Arabela Arcinue, president of the Pangasinan Heritage Society Inc. chair of the ASNA awards selection, said the awardees come from 11 different fields, including government service, community service, arts and culture, medicine, agriculture and aquaculture, mass communications, business and entrepreneurship, law, education, science and technology, and sports.–LM
