A RESETLLEMENT area will soon be developed for the families displaced by the big flood that hit the province in October last year and have since been living at the Tent City in Rosales.

Regional Director Leonardo Reinoso of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSWD) said a relocation site, comprising of a 2.5 hectare land area in Rosales, is set to be donated by the family of Sixth District Rep. Conrado Estrella III.

The Habitat for Humanities Foundation Inc., working with the DSWD and the municipal government of Rosales, will build 290 housing units at the site.

At least 240 families from the tent city will be relocated, plus another 50 families that will be displaced by the construction of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEx).

Reinoso, speaking on Thursday at the KBP forum, clarified only families that do not have own houses and lots can qualify as beneficiaries. So far, 120 families have been delisted as beneficiaries.

Nonetheless, he said the Philippine National Red Cross and the Rosales government are looking for another relocation site where other families from the Tent City may be temporarily moved.–LM
