A NEW Radiology Complex and Spiral Dual-Slice CT Scan at the Region 1 Medical Center was inaugurated on Friday.

Fourth District Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr., who funded the P11 million project from his Priority Development Assistance Fund, led the event with his wife Gina.

The two-storey facility, named Speaker Jose C. de Venecia Jr. Radiology Complex, also houses the two new CT Scans, one of which was sourced by De Venecia from Taiwan with the help of his nephew, Atty. Jose De Venecia Tangco of the Manila Economic Cooperation Office (MICO) in Taipei; and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, both costing P30 million.

Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia said R1MC is now the only hospital run by the Department of Health with two state-of-the-art CT Scans.

R1MC currently has a 300-bed capacity and is admitting patients not only from Pangasinan but also from Tarlac, La Union, Zambales, Baguio and Nueva Ecija.

The inauguration was attended by Health Undersecretary for Special Concerns Dr. Elmer Punzalan, Dagupan Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr., Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, and former Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary Clarissa Cruz Evangelista.

Meanwhile, De Venecia also announced that he has given additional funds for the still unfinished R1MC Drug Rehabilitation Center in Bonuan Binloc, although more funds are needed for the dormitory and administration building.–LM
