Mayor Velasco bolsters delivery of basic services in Sta. Barbara
IN just three years time, Mayor Reynaldo Velasco has provided the citizens of Sta. Barbara with top-notch basic services through the acquisition and repairs of a fire truck, an ambulance and patrol units, among other utility vehicles.
Heavy equipment and vehicles worth P14 million were also delivered to the local government, thus bolstering the town’s ability to deliver its health, peace and order, and infrastructure services as well as farm modernization.
Among the new vehicles acquired are three ambulances, with a fourth due to arrive soon, Velasco announced.
These will augment the lone ambulance the town had which was only recently repaired.
“We now have enough ambulances to serve any health emergency in any of the barangays,” said Velasco.

The new ambulances were purchased with financial help from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and FANA USA.
For its many ongoing and programmed public works and flood control projects, the mayor said one backhoe, a pay loader, one big dump truck and two smaller dump trucks were added to the town’s fleet of heavy machinery.
Also recently repaired were a compactor and other town vehicles.
For effective police work and fire prevention, the town acquired three brand new police patrol cars and one fire truck.
A farm tractor with complete accessories worth P2.6 million also came in.
For other departments, one high ace and three Suzuki utility vehicles were bought
“We managed to buy all these vehicles and heavy construction equipment through creative sourcing of funds and savings from our budgets through prudent management of limited local government resources,” Velasco pointed out.
“The latest batch of heavy equipment and vehicles will further upgrade the local government’s ability to deliver its priority programs in the field of public safety, health and the completion of still unfinished roads, dikes, bridges, irrigation canals and other public works projects that we have programmed for completion,” the mayor added.
Velasco, a former three-star police director, was recently hailed by his constituents as the pound-for-pound best local executive in Pangasinan, likening him to boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.
