LINGAYEN–It’s now all systems go for the construction of the Sual International Seaport after the owners of a lot in front of the proposed site at Baquioen Bay finally announced their support for the project.

Alex Zarate, spokesman of the Feliciano family, owner of a 2.5 hectare land fronting the project site, said, in a radio interview, they welcome the project because it will bring opportunities to the town of Sual and Pangasinan as a whole.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Sual Port was held last month at the Feliciano property.

The Feliciano family initially cordoned off their property to protect it and keep it from being turned into a dumping ground for garbage

Zarate stressed that the family is open to talk with the provincial government as a sign of support to the project and to Governor Amado Espino Jr.

The port is a joint undertaking of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), Philippine Port Authority (PPA), Pangasinan Provincial Government and the Municipality of Sual.

The DOTC and PPA contributed P100 million each, P200 million from the provincial government and another P100 million from the Sual municipal government.
