POZORRUBIO–Just as this town was celebrating its annual fiesta last Wednesday, the oldest Gabaldon school building here, built in 1914 within the compound of the Pozorrubio Central School, was gutted by fire.

No one was reported injured, as it was a school holiday with the students and school staff busy participating in the street-dancing event of the fiesta.

Dr. Viraluz Raguindin, schools division superintendent of Pangasinan Division II, told The PUNCH Thursday that all the 15 classrooms in the building, the social hall, principal’s office, library and computer room were lost in the three-hour fire.

Raguindin said the displaced pupils are now temporarily holding classes at the sports complex while school officials are still sorting out what else could be salvaged from the damaged blackboards, chairs, tables, and books.

Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire but independent sources said it started inside the computer room.#
