Positive growth for Dagupan seen next year
ROBUST economic activities await Dagupan City in the year of the metal tiger.
This is the prediction of Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, one of the leading businesswomen in the region.
Fernandez, president and chairman of the board of the CSI Group of Companies, said the city and the country as a whole can begin to look forward to an upward movement in its economy with the felt improvement in the global economy.
The city government, she said, will even be in an even better situation to deliver more services after surviving the past two difficult years despite having to pay for the loans obtained by the previous city administration and without need to secure new financing.
She affirmed that the development projects and social services scheduled and planned under the administration of Mayor Al Fernandez were delivered.
The ongoing urban renewal program of the city government is proceeding smoothly, which includes the implementation of the sidewalk recovery in many Dagupan streets.
The vice mayor, however, admitted that while no vertical infrastructure was developed owing to fund constraints, the city government gave priority to the people’s more basic needs such as health and nutrition and health.
With the expected increase in city’s revenues this year, the city hall, she said, will be in a better position to deliver more services and projects.
Fernandez, who is running for re-election together with Mayor Fernandez, said should they win another term in office, the building of a new city hall using will be in the pipeline.—LM
