Media rally for justice for Yadao

MEMBERS of the Pangasinan media gathered Tuesday night for a prayer rally to call on the Dagupan police to “wake up and act fast” in solving the murder of Zharlene Yadao, daughter of local broadcaster Susan Yadao.

The presidents of three local media groups, broadcasting station managers, and reporters spoke during the rally to press police authorities to expedite the filing of a case against the suspects in the shooting that took place in July last year.

Streamers carrying the bereaved family’s sentiments as well media’s call for action were hung around the rally site.

Sana yong mga opisyal na nagbibingi-bingihan diyan ay matauhan sa ginagawa nating pag-iingay para sa hustisya,” said the grieving Yadao.

In reaction, P/Supt. Mariano Luis Versoza, Dagupan police chief, maintained in a radio interview that they are doing their best to solve the case but are in need of witnesses to pin down the suspected assassins.

Yadao has sent out an appeal to witnesses to step forward to help the case against her daughter’s murderers.

Sana isipin nila na kung sa kanila mangyayari yun, ano ang mararamdaman nila? Walang gustong tumulong sa kanila, sana naman makonsensiya sila,” she said.

Zharlene, who would have turned 27 Tuesday, was gunned down while walking on her way home early morning of July 2 from the hospital where she worked.

Yadao said it is practically public knowledge who the perpetrators are and that makes it more frustrating that the police seem to be helpless in arresting the suspects and filing a case against them.

Alam naman ata ng lahat kung sino ang may kasalanan pero sila (police) hindi nila alam,” she said sobbing.#
