Manay Gina, GMA friends anew

THE De Venecias and President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo have kissed and made up.

But the renewed friendship, according to Gina de Venecia, has no political implications just yet.

She also admitted that she could not speak for her husband, 4th District Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr., when asked by the media if he has also made amends with the President whom he suspected to have instigated his ouster as Speaker of the House of Representatives two years ago.

“You have to ask him,” said Mrs. De Venecia, who is running in the May election for the position that her husband is vacating under the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Macapagal-Arroyo is also running for Congress as representative of her district in Pampanga and if elected, may gun for the Speakership.

Asked if she will support Mrs. Arroyo on this if she wins, Mrs. De Venecia only said, “We will cross the bridge when we get there.”

The Arroyos and De Venecias used to be close friends and political allies until the son of the congressman, Jose “Joey” de Venecia III, became the whistleblower in the now shelved NBN-ZTE project where he implicated the First Gentleman to be involved in under-the-table dealings.

Joey is running for senator under the Partido ng Masang Pilipino.

Mrs. De Venecia said the reconciliation took place during the Christmas season.

Mabuti na yon dahil masyado nang magulo ang mundo para magkaroon pa ng pabigat sa dibdib natin”, said Mrs. De Venecia.–LM
