Gina de V seeks reconciliation
FOURTH District congressional candidate Georgina “Gina” de Venecia wants to mend political conflicts as the new year starts.
De Venecia, wife of incumbent 4th District Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr., said she is extending her hand of reconciliation and understanding to those whom she and her husband Joe have been at odds with in the past, including President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
She said her family is offering “forgiveness to those whom we had differences with, understanding to those who don’t understand us and a lot of patience”.
“What’s important is we have a good and clear heart…so we can give the best for our people,” she said during a breakfast feeding program that benefited about 3,000 street children in all the towns and city in the fourth district as in celebration of the 73rd birthday celebration of the former Speaker on Dec. 26.
Mr. De Venecia lost the speakership and his presidency of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party after he had a falling out with the President when his son and namesake, Jose de Venecia III, became a whistle blower in the controversial $329-million National Broadband Network-ZTE project where the First Couple were implicated to have been involved in a corrupt deal.
Mrs. De Venecia said 2009 was full of trials but she is optimistic that for 2010, “We can look forward to a new tomorrow that will lead us to a better future and a new beginning”.#
