CSI to open more than 300 new jobs
CITY Supermarket Inc. (CSI), with its two additional warehouse clubs due to open this year, is expected to create at least 300 new jobs for Pangasinenses at the start of 2010.
The president and chairman of the board of the CSI Group of Companies, Belen Fernandez, who is also vice mayor of Dagupan City, said workers from the town where the warehouses are located will get priority in the recruitment.
One warehouse, which is now in its final stage of construction but will still be requiring about 100 workers, is in Mangaldan.
Construction for another warehouse in Tayug will start this year and will need more than 200 workers.
Fernandez said the two warehouse clubs are part of the CSI’s expansion plan, which is designed to help stimulate the local economy, create employment opportunities, and provide additional income to both the company and the government through taxes.
Fernandez expressed optimism that the year 2010 will be prosperous for the province and at the same time prays that Pangasinan will be spared from major calamities this year.
CSI currently has malls and supermarkets located in Dagupan, San Carlos, Alaminos and Urdaneta cities as well as in Bayambang, Malasiqui, San Fernando City, Baguio and Candon, Ilocos Sur.—LM
