CSI is top 2009 Dagupan taxpayer

THE City Supermarket Inc. was the number one taxpayer of Dagupan City in 2009.

CSI, owned by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez who sits as the company’s president and chairman of the board, dislodged 2008 top-payer Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) from the number one spot, records from the City Treasurer’s office show.

A report from the One-Stop-Business Shop of Dagupan where all business taxes are paid show that CSI remitted a total of P5.75 million, of which CSI the City Mall in Lucao accounted for P3.65 million while the CSI Market Square in downtown, P2.1 million.

Decorp contributed P5.6 million.

San Miguel Brewery Inc. remained the third biggest taxpayer with P3.34 million while the Purefoods-Hormel Company was fourth with P1.93 million.

Others in the top 10 are: San Miguel Foods Inc., P1.92 million; University of Pangasinan, now owned by PHINMA, P1.71 million; Natasha, P1.62 million; Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp., P1,51 million; Sonny Philippines Inc., P1.3 million; and JVC Philippines Inc., P1.24 million. 245,265.76.—LM
