CHED regional meet set in Jan. 21-24

THE Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region I Sports Triangular Meet and Academic-Cultural Festival will be held on January 21-24 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) and other venues within Pangasinan.

Some 700 students and officials are expected to participate in team and individual sports as well as academic and cultural competitions.

The winners in the events will represent Region I in the CHED National Games and Academic-Cultural Festival in Metro Manila on February 22-28.

The team sports events include baseball, football, and sepak takraw (men only), basketball, beach volley, softball, and volleyball (for men and women) while individual sports competitions for both men and women are athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sports, karatedo, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, and taekwondo.

The academic competitions include impromptu speech, oration, poetry interpretation, story-telling, debate, science, math and computer quizzes for the academic portion of the festival.

The cultural segment of the festival includes awit-saya (vocal solo and duet), sayawitan (choir), tipa at tugtugan (solo instrument), likhawit (song writing), and sayaw pinoy (Philippine creative folk/ethnic dance).

A special highlight of the festival will be the search for the Ginoo at Binibining Pamantasan.–JAGJr.
