Provincial police inaugurates 2 landmarks
LINGAYEN–The police provincial headquarters based here in the capital town prides itself in its two attractions unique in the whole country: biggest replica of the Pershing Cap, the police’s official headgear, and the Badge of Honor Park.
Senior Supt. Percival Barba, the police provincial director, said these two landmark structures, that were inaugurated Wednesday afternoon last week, are intended to give another distinction to Pangasinan’s main police camp and remind officers of the prestige, honor and responsibility in their work.
The Pershing Cap was designed by the quartermaster general of the US Army in 1921 and introduced in the Philippines in 1923 by Gen. John Pershing. It was used by Gen. Douglas Macarthur during his Leyte landing.
Today, it is the official headgear of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The Pershing Cap model here, located at the entrance of the police headquarters, measures 7.5 meters in diameter and houses a comfort room as well as the office of Police Provincial Office camp commander.
The Badge of Honor Park, meanwhile was constructed to give importance, respect honor and dignity of the PNP badge, said Barba who initiated the two projects.
“It is the symbol of our officers’ legal authority to serve and protect the people and the community,” Barba said.
Set on an elevated man-made hill, the PNP’s Badge of Honor Park also has a big police logo and the seals of the police regional office 1, the provincial police and the provincial government of Pangasinan with waterfalls.#
