MIO holds 1st Grand Reunion
The Mangaldan International Organization (MIO) pledged to send $10,000 to victims of Typhoon Pepeng that it raised during it’s first grand reunion held at the Gold Coast Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada last October 24-25, 2009.
With the theme “ Reconnecting with our families and friends through a Global Reunion”, some 400 Mangaldanians living in different parts of the world, were reconnected and participated in the various activities that included the fund –raising event.
MIO, organized by representatives from different regions in North America, is led by Silverio Moulic based in Edison, New Jersey, USA chairman; Marie Aquino Junio, based in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, co-chairperson.
Other committee officers are Ditas Palisoc Sarzaba (San Francisco, USA: Rusty Cervas Miraflor (Vancouver, B.C. Canada); Josie Aquino Tumaneng (Dumont, New Jersey, USA); and Djoma De Guzman (Vancouver, B.C. Canada).
Among the activities included the Grand Canyon Tour, Fellowship Night with Mangaldan Councilor Teresa Abalos as guest speaker), Gala Night with Mangaldan Mayor Herminio Romero and Ret. Gen. Arturo Romero as guests of honor, and Picnic at the Park.
Mayor Romero, who had cancel his trip owing to the devastation that hit Mangaldan, had his message read by Councilor Abalos.
Municipal treasurer Mrs. Susanna P. Bauzon was among the special guests.
Bona de Vera and Choy Parayno and Eduardo and Loy Baltazar were cited by MIO for their “extra generosity” for the calamity aid.
The officers said the successful reunion attests is a testament to MIO’s slogan “ In fellowship And Unity Lie Our Strength. (Contributed by Marie Junio)
