Lambino sees tight contest with rival Espino camp
“IT’’S not going to be a walk in the park for the administration in this election. It can go either way.”
This was voiced by former Vice Governor Oscar Lambino, assessing his and Congressman Victor Agbayani’s chances against the tandem of Governor Amado Espino Jr. and Jose Ferdinand Calimlim under the administration’s Lakas CMD-Kampi party .
In a talk on Thursday at the KBP Forum, Lambino expressed optimism about their team’s continuing surge in popularity among provincial voters.
He said both he and former governor Agbayani, who is running for the governorship, which he held for three three-year terms, are confident they have a strong chance in this election because people will remember their respective previous performances in office.
Lambino was also a three-term vice governor.
He added that the withdrawal of Dr. Jamie Agbayani in the second district congressional race is an added advantage to their camp as the Agbayanis can now focus fully on her husband’s candidacy.
Lambino also said they are not worried about the towns where municipal mayors, belonging to the ruling party, are running for reelection unopposed.
He is referring to Mayors Vivien Villar of Sto. Tomas, Amado Espino III of Pozorrubio and Ric Orduna of Bugallon.
Lambino also said he and Agbayani have the support of former President Fidel V. Ramos, chairman emeritus of the original Lakas-CMD, who is against the merger of Lakas-CMD and Kampi.–LM
