EMPLOYEES of the Dagupan City government will receive an additional cash gift of up to P10,000 each on top of the regular cash gift   of P5,000 which they already received earlier.

Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. approved last week the distribution of an “extra Christmas gift” to the employees at P10,000 each for regular employees and P5,000 each for casual and contractual employees.

Fernandez also approved a P1,000 bonus for each volunteer worker in the city government, which include Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Service Point Officers.

In granting additional cash benefits to city hall workers, the mayor said the employees deserve the bonus as incentives for their improved performance and sacrifices in serving the city and people.

He expressed hope that with the extra monetary benefits accorded by the city to its workers, will enable them to celebrate a more meaningful Christmas and New Year with their families.

The city council, presided by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, is set to approve the proposed Supplemental Budget No. 6 in its regular session on Monday guaranteeing the full amount for the monetary benefits.

The additional cash gift is in line with the a memorandum-circular of the Department of Budget and Management upon the advice of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo directing local government units, government financial institutions and government-owned and controlled corporations to distribute bonuses depending on the availability of funds.—LM
