THE City Agriculturist Office in Dagupan, dubbed as the Bangus Capital of the World, has assured that there is enough supply of the popular fish for the holiday season.

At the same time, City Agriculturist Emma Molina said prices of bangus in the market are being monitored daily to ensure that any increase, which is expected with the high demand, is not predatory.

Molina clarified that her office can only “project and recommend (prices)” but cannot impose price ceilings.

As of last week, wholesale price stood at P105 per kilo for jumbo size and sold at retail price between P108 to P110 per kilo.

Bangus is a popular grill item in the province for holiday gatherings.

Dagupan has 22 regular shippers of bangus who bring the product to other provinces like in Isabela, Tuguegarao, Ilocos Norte, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya.#
