YMCA-Filipinas Wado Ryu bags 5 gold in nat’l tilt

YMCA- Filipinas Wado Ryu scored five gold, five silver, and 4 bronze medals in the National KDA Karate Championships, dubbed as the “Big Fight”, held November 22 at Xavier School in Metro Manila.

The team placed 1st runner up over all with the winning performances of members John Enrico Vasquez who won gold in Kumite and silver for Advance KATA; Jayson Ramil Macaalay won gold in Kumite and silver in Kata; and Jeramiel Gutierrez and Keiffer Espino of who each won a gold in Kumite.

The other silver winners are: Jalil Magandia, Carlo Abrasaldo and Alexis Louise Nuñez.

Narayana Mesina, Kristelle Ira Zabala, Celina Koleen Juguillon, and Mark Andres Manantan contributed a bronze each.

Seven players of Team YMCA are official members of Team Philippines that will compete in the Asian KOI Karate Championships on December 3 to 7, 2009 in Putra Jaya Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
