NPC not supporting any presidential bet

THE Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) party is not supporting any presidential candidate in the 2010 elections, according to 5th District Rep. Mark Cojuangco, son of former ambassador and business tycoon Eduardo Cojuangco who founded the NPC.

“The NPC supports (Senator) Loren (Legarda for vice president) but does not support any presidential candidate,” Cojuangco told newsmen in San Manuel during the Senate committee hearing on climate change held at the San Roque Dam last week.

He said Legarda’s tandem with Sen. Manuel Villar, the Nacionalista Party standard-bearer, was her personal decision.

Pinayagan namin siya dahil yong presidential candidate namin decided not to run,” he said.

He said the NPC may still decide to support a candidate as the party continues to evaluate its options.

What is certain, Cojuangco said, is that the NPC will field a full slate of congressional bets nationwide and will concentrate it support on them.#
