THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently commended the CSI Group of Companies for its annual hosting of the Sari Sari Store Fair.

Gracing the three-day 3rd Sari-Sari Store Fair at CSI Stadia on Friday, DTI Director Florante Leal said the CSI Group of Companies evidently is in the business not just for profit but to pump prime the local economy in Dagupan, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and part of the Cordillera Region.

The fair, participated in by exhibitors from all over the country, was officially opened by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr., along with movie and television star Angel Locsin and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, chief executive officer of CSI.

Commending the company for this kind of undertaking, Leal said CIS’s corporate responsibility is worthy of emulation as it selflessly gives back to the community that supports CSI.

Big discounts and promo prizes were given to every buyer as the goods came directly from suppliers.

In an interview shortly after his speech, Leal also cited CSI’s unique role in the region as price stabilizer, being in command of the retail business in the Ilocos and of Cordillera region.

He cited the inclination of traders and businessmen to use CSI’s price levels as the benchmark.

Mayor Fernandez also lauded the social responsibility outreach program of the CSI Group effectively stimulating investments and promoting entrepreneurship among small businessmen.

The Sari-Sari Store Fair is co-sponsored by the Dagupan City government, DTI and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). LM
