AFTER the typhoons and the major flooding early last month, Dagupan City is up on its feet and is going back to business with the 3rd CSI Sari-Sari Store Fair on November 13 to 15 at the CSI Stadia.

Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, president and chair of the CSI Group of Companies, which is organizing the three-day fair, said the event, with its unique free “Negosyo” Sessions, seeks to stimulate the spirit of entrepreneurship among the people.

Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. will be the guest of honor and speaker at the opening ceremony. He will also lead the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon along with movie and television star Angel Locsin.

The vice mayor called on sari-sari store owners to attend the business sessions wherein experts will be giving tips on how to upgrade their businesses.

Vice Mayor Fernandez, who earned the moniker Sari-Sari Store Queen as her chain of supermarkets in northern Luzon mainly cater to the merchandise needs of sari-sari stores, also encouraged housewives and other prospective entrepreneurs to attend the talks to get business ideas.

The fair is being supported by the Dagupan City government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education Skills and Development Authority and other government agencies.

DOLE, DTI and TESDA will hold a job fair for work opportunities in the country and abroad during the event.

More than 100 suppliers of CSI will display and sell their products in their respective booths.

Fernandez said sari-sari storeowners and consumers will be able to buy directly from the suppliers and get discounts.

Twice postponed because of typhoons and floods, the Sari-Sari Store Fair will close on November 15 with another popular show business personality Cristine Reyes. Also on the last day, a giant screen will be installed at the CSI Stadia to broadcast the boxing match of Filipino icon Manny Paquiao against Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico.—LM
