MDF holds medical mission in San Carlos

SAN CARLOS CITY–Medecins Sans Frontieres, also known as Doctors without Borders, an international medical and humanitarian aid organization, conducted a medical mission and donated kits for hygiene and construction to some barangays here in the aftermath of Typhoon “Pepeng”.

Doctors Anita de Jang and Cheory Eshetu from the Netherlands attended to residents of barangays Mabalbalino and Bogaoan who were afflicted with respiratory and gastro-intestinal ailments and skin infection after the typhoon and the ensuing massive flooding.

Among the city government employees who assisted in the medical mission were Dra. Luisa Cayabyab of the City Mayor’s Office and Susan Viduya of the City Social Welfare Office. Two nurses from Rosales, Michael Siapno and Judy Ramos, also assisted.

The same group returned on October 19 and donated hygiene kits to 1,500 families from barangays Antipangol, Bani, Bogaoan, Salinap and Mabalbalino.

The kit contained blanket, bucket, soap for bath and laundry, shampoo, sanitary napkin, kitchen knife, cooking pot, plates, cups, spoons and forks.

Another 1,500 kits of construction materials containing hammer, trowel, shovel, saw, nails, measuring device, bucket, pliers and wires were given to residents of Barangays Salinap, Mabalbalino, Bani and Bogaoan for the rebuilding of damaged houses. (CIO)
