Lingayen police act versus dynamite fishing

LINGAYEN — A vigilant community is still the police’s best partner in combating crime.

This was proven true again with the recent confiscation of 60 kilos of fish from dynamite fishing on board a passenger bus traveling through the town last September 25.

A police check point was set up by the Lingayen police led by P/Inspectors John Corpuz and Joseph Cruz shortly after they received a call with the information that a cargo containing dynamited fish aboard a passenger bus would pass through Lingayen town.

P/ Supt. Harris Fama, town police chief, confirmed that the confiscated fish were found positive of chemical infection as a result of the dynamite used.

The Lingayen Police Station has since intensified the anti-illegal fishing drive after persistent reports of blasted fish being sold by ambulant vendors directly to houses to elude market inspections, were received.

“Fama said the confiscated fish were taken to the provincial jail for consumption after police documentation, investigation and inspection”. (PIA)
