FOURTH District Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr. and his staff distributed today (Sunday) 10,000 relief packages to his constituents in Dagupan, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto and Manaoag who have been affected by the flood spawned by Typhoon “Pepeng”.

Rep. De Venecia said another set of 10,000 relief packages donated by many civil society donors in Metro Manila will be brought in by his wife Gina.

At the same time, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, threatened the San Roque officials with prosecution if they fail to prove the justification forĀ  the sudden and huge releases of water from the dam.

Back from his speaking engagements in Kazakhstan and Thailand, De Venecia flew into Pangasinan on a borrowed helicopter to assess the extent of the flooding in Pangasinan.

“PANGASINAN DELUGE”

He said the massive releases of dam waters, augmented by water from the Ambuklao and Binga Dams and the sustained storm rains merged with the torrents of the Agno, Bued and Sinocalan rivers, created what can be called “the Pangasinan deluge”.

“De Venecia proposed a meeting with Speaker Prospero Nograles, the Northern Luzon and Cordillera congressmen, governors and mayors in order to draft reform provisions in the 2010 national budget before its approval to tackle anti-climate change targets and set up anti-flood and graft-free rehabilitation fund to be distributed by government and religious and civil society organizations.”-LM
