Gov. Espino: NPC, SRPC, AFCO don’t coordinate
ARE the management of the National Power Corporation (NPC) and the San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) coordinating with other agencies at all with regards to the releasing of water from the San Roque Dam?
Gov. Amado Espino Jr. posed this question as he pointed out how an official of the Agno Flood Control Office (AFCO), Director Fidel Ginez, and his family were themselves caught unaware by the flash flood last week.
Ginez and his family reportedly climbed to the rooftop of their house in Sterling Subdivision, Villasis to escape the on-rushing floodwater.
“Aren’t they supposed to coordinate with Ginez’s office that is in-charge of flood control along the Agno River?” Espino asked.
Espino mentioned Ginez’ harrowing experience from the flood to prove that officials of NPC and SRPC were lying when they claimed they sent a fax message to his office at the capitol informing him of the incoming release of big volume of water from the dam.
Ginez was reported to be among those who signified his intention to file a case against NPC and SRPC as the release of water washed out multi-billion projects downstream of the Agno River funded by a loan of the Philippine government with the Japanese government through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency
The AFCO is currently undertaking a detailed inventory on the lost projects.—LM
