Pangasinan leaders condole with INC

LINGAYEN–Pangasinan leaders were one in expressing their personal sense of grief over the demise of Executive Minister Eraño “Ka Erdy” Manalo, supreme leader of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) who died on August 31 at age 84.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. led provincial officials in condoling with the Manalo family and the INC for Ka Erdy’s demise.

Espino said that Ka Erdy was a powerful spiritual figure whose leadership could not perhaps be equaled by any other Church leaders of the world.

Fourth District Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr., his wife Gina and son Joey III sent their condolences to the family of the late INC leader, extolling Ka Erdy as   someone who lifted millions of Filipinos from poverty to join the ranks of the middle class.

The De Venecia couple personally condoled with the bereaved family and other leaders of INC during the wake in Quezon City.

Assistant Secretary Arturo Lomibao of the Department of Transportation and Communication and chief of the Land Transportation Office said the country has lost not only a spiritual leader but also a role model for Filipinos.

In Dagupan, Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. said the teachings imparted by Ka Erdy to the Filipinos, which are the fruits of his dedication in the service of God, should serve as inspiration to all Filipinos of present and succeeding generations.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, for her part, said that in spreading the word of God in the Philippines and various parts of the world, Ka Erdy strongly emphasized love, unity and understanding, virtues that Filipinos had imbibed over the years so that they can attain peace and improve their life.

The INC is an influential religious group whose members vote make a unified vote during election. —LM
