IT will be Pawil Dagupan for thousands of overseas Dagupenos this Christmas and during the Bangus Festival in April next year.

This was disclosed by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez who led a delegation of Dagupan officials to the United States for the signing of a city-sisterhood agreement with Milpitas and to encourage Dagupenos in the US to come home to join the two celebrations.

The members of the delegation included Councilors Farah Decano, City Administrator Alvin Fernandez and Councilor Karlos Reyna.

The group met with Dagupenos in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and New York.

They held meetings with members of the United Pangasinenses Association, Dagupan Association of Southern California and the Dagupan Association of San Diego headed by Sammy Francisco.

Vice Mayor Fernandez recalled how the Dagupenos, who were all excited to hear news from home, warmly welcomed them.

The vice mayor also hailed The PUNCH Online for keeping overseas Dagupenos and Pangasinenses constantly abreast of developments in the province.

Pawil Dagupan, a program launched by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. during his first term of office in 1992, is aimed at promoting the city’s activities to Dagupenos based abroad.

Reyna is this year’s hermano mayor for the Dagupan City Fiesta, from December 15 to 31 this year.

Vice Mayor Fernandez, meanwhile, remains chair of the Dagupan Bangus Festival. —LM
