Dagupan council seeks probe on lewd shows
THE Dagupan council has asked the National Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Dagupan Police to investigate the reported resurgence of lewd girlie shows in bars.
The resolution filed by Councilor Dada Reyna was approved by the council during a special session last Thursday.
Councilor Farah Decano, the council’s majority floor leader, said the resolution was filed following several reports that certain bars along Arellano Street and some other parts of the city have revived their indecent shows in violation of a standing ordinance passed about nine years ago.
“We would like to verify these reports because these did not come from only one person but several persons,” said Decano, a lawyer and national president of the Local Ladies Legislators League (4Ls) of the Philippines and an advocate for women and children’s welfare.
She, however, did not name any specific bar.
She said the owners of these establishments, if found guilty, must be meted the corresponding penalty as provided for by the ordinance in addition to the closure of their bars. —LM
