Another 5 years of friendship for Dagupan and Milpitas
The sisterhood pact between Dagupan and Milpitas cities has been renewed for another five years during a signing ceremony at Milpitas City between Mayor Robert Livengood and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, representing Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr.
Vice Mayor Fernandez was accompanied by Councilor Farah Decano and City Administrator Alvin Fernandez, who as vice mayor of Dagupan City in 2003 signed the first sisterhood pact with then Mayor Jose Esteves, a Dagupeno.
The previous agreements between the two cities were good only for two years. This is the first time that the agreement was extended for five years.
Milpitas is a progressive city in California, proud of its high technology, said Councilor Decano, pointing out that the city of Dagupan can learn from Milpitas what it does in battling cyber crimes.
Aside from signing the sisterhood agreement, the group headed by Vice Mayor Fernandez took the opportunity to interact with the Filipino community in San Francisco and the Bay area.
They invited members of the United Pangasinanes of America Inc. to come home for a visit during the city fiesta in December or the Bangus Festival in April..
The same invitation was extended them to the officials and people of Milpitas City.
