Informants on “Most Wanted” get reward
TELLING on criminals does have its rewards.
Two civilians who provided information that led to the arrest of two of the ‘Most Wanted Persons’ (MWP) in Region 1 each received a P90,000 reward money from the police in simple rites held last week.
Police Chief Supt. Ramon Gatan, police regional director, personally presented the reward money to the informants, identified only as “Denton” and “Temyong,” and thankedĀ them for their courage in responding to the call of civic duty.
Gatan said the arrests of the two MWPs were made possible by the information provided by the awardees as he stressed the value of community participation in the fight against criminality.
“This is our guiding principle, to work in partnership with all stakeholders to maintain peace and order in the region,” Gatan said.
Denton provided information on suspected rapist Marlou A. Alcantara, alias Mario, 35, single and a resident of Barangay Sta. Lucia, Aringay, La Union who was arrested on March 25 this year.
Temyong, meanwhile, reported the hiding place of Manuel Bustos Jr. who was charged with double murder for the brutal killing of Lolita Mamenta and Liezel Soriano on March 3, 2007 at Barangay Paitan, Sta. Maria.
Bustos was arrested by police regional office 1 personnel in Sta. Maria last April 9. #
