LINGAYEN—A high-level investigative team started preliminary hearings on August 11 initially against five government health workers facing administrative charges.

The government health workers who are facing administrative charges include a chief nurse at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital and her son, who allegedly presented a fake license to be employed as a nurse at the hospital.

The other administrative cases involve a medical officer at the Western District Hospital in Alaminos City, two casual nurses, and two security guards of Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug.

The administrative charges range from dishonesty, gross negligence of duty, misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the interest of public service and unlawful act unbecoming of a public official.

The investigation team, chaired by the provincial legal officer, Atty. Geraldine Baniqued, is composed of Atty. Benedicto Cayabyab, legal consultant; Erlinda Fernandez, consultant of the office of the Governor; Ms. Janette Asis, officer-in-charge of the human resource management office; and the department head concerned as a non-permanent member.

Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said the team was formed to look into the number of complaints against erring provincial officials and employees.

Espino will decide on the cases after receiving the team’s recommendations.—LM
