LINGAYEN—Governor Amado Espino Jr. headed a delegation from the province that left for China on August 19 for a one-week official visit.

Espino will sign a memorandum of understanding with his counterpart in Sichuan province in preparation for the possible establishment of sisterhood relations between Pangasinan and Sichuan.

Tian Qixiang, the Chinese Consul in Laoag, invited the Pangasinan delegation during his courtesy call on the Governor last June 3 when he affirmed the mutual interests of the two provinces to establish sisterhood ties.

After signing the MOU, Espino and his group are also set to visit earthquake-stricken areas, agricultural and high-tech projects as well as cultural sites.

With Espino out of the country, Vice Governor Marlyn Primicias-Agabas assumed as acting governor while her husband, Senior Provincial Board Member and Presiding Officer Pro-Tempore Tyrone Agabas was designated acting vice governor.—LM
