LINGAYEN–The people have not forgotten. And neither has the provincial council. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, through a resolution initiated by Fourth District Board Member John Agerico Rosario, chairman of the provincial board’s Committee on Health, has called on the concerned agencies to provide an update on the investigation of the expired medicines and medical supplies found buried within the capitol compound in early June.

Rosario delivered a privilege speech during the council meeting last week reminding the provincial government to report on the case.

“Pangasinenses want to know what happened to this ‘affair’ that rocked the provincial government,” he said.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the Office of the Ombudsman and a team created by Governor Amado Espino Jr. were tasked to conduct separate investigations on the case.

The buried medicines, which had expiry dates of 2005 and 2006, were dug out from the compound of the Provincial Engineer’s Office and behind the Sison Auditorium following an anonymous tip-off letter sent to the governor’s office.

Rosario said among the questions that they want the investigators to answer are why were the supplies disposed in such a manner, how much government funds were wasted, and who should be made liable.#
