PSU honors COA’s Villar
LINGAYEN–Commission on Audit (COA) Chairman Reynaldo Villar was conferred honoris causa Doctor of Humanities degree by the Pangasinan State University (PSU) during its 15th biennial celebration held at its main campus here on Wednesday.
Dr. Victoriano Estira, PSU President, said the province is proud of Villar, who holds a very sensitive position “yet he remains unassuming”.
Estira described Villar, a former delegate to the 1971 Constitutional Convention as a real advocate for a graft-free and corruption-free government.
Villar, in his speech, thanked the PSU for the honor and commended the institution for its continued growth.
“The PSU, starting from a small beginning, has grown to an unprecedented size, having expanded in the four corners of Pangasinan with eight campuses,” he said.
Villar advised students to value the opportunity given them to study, citing that he would not be where he is today if he had not studied well.
Villar, a lawyer and an alumnus of the Ateneo de Manila University, first entered the commission in 1988 as a staff officer before being promoted to graft investigator. He then moved on as prosecutor and later as human resource management officer until he was promoted to various other posts within the agency. #
