Dagupan is still A(H1N1) flu-free
WHILE eight patients were confirmed to have been infected with A (H1N1) influenza in Pangasinan, no single case was recorded in Dagupan City, according to the Center for Health Development of the Department of Health.
City Health Officer Leonard Carbonell, however, said even if no positive case is reported in the city, health authorities continue to be prepared and anticipate the possibility.
He said the multi-agency Task Force on A (H1N1) Prevention created by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. is ready to meet the disease head on.
The task force, which Carbonell heads, has conducted information dissemination, including symposia aimed at reminding people to adopt personal hygiene as the best effective measure to fight A (H1N1) influenza.
The task force continues to distribute flyers to acquaint the public on how to avoid the virus.
The city council, through Councilor Jesus Canto, chair of the committee on health, recently passed a resolution enjoining all restaurants to provide running water and soap in their washrooms for use of customers in washing their hands or place bottles of alcohol on every dining table which diners may use in disinfecting their hands before eating.
Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez said the CSI Group of Companies has also distributed alcohol disinfectants to public schools in the city.
Schools are being closely monitoring flu cases among students.—LM
