Colisao Gang head, member nabbed

LINGAYEN–Finally, the leader and three members of the notorious Colisao Gang, involved in gun-for-hire and robbery activities, were arrested on July 20 in one of the group’s safe houses in Umingan.

Combined elements of the local, provincial and regional police finally arrested the suspects in a house in Barangay San Leon at around noon on Monday. The suspects have managed to evade authorities in the past by moving from one safe house to another.

Arrested were Manny Colisao, 31, married, and Modesto Colisao, 25, single, both residents of Barangay Banaoang, Malasiqui town by virtue of warrant of arrest for frustrated murder issued by Judge Emma Bauzon of the Regional Trial Court branch 57 in San Carlos City. Also arrested were group members Alver Mendoza alias Ambet Lopez/Betbet, also from Malasiqui, and Jojo Torio, 21, single and resident of Barangay Labit, Villasis.

The Colisao Gang, known to have at least 10 members, to be involved in the killings of Luisito Gabat Sr, school principal on March 2, 2009, ex-Barangay Captain Flor Benitez on March 31, 2009, and Engr. Domingo Ballesteros, economic enterprise officer and resident of Barangay Malabago, Calasiao on June 16, 2009. Charges have already been filed in court.

It is also suspected to be responsible in the series of robbery-hold up incidents in the third, fourth and sixth districts of Pangasinan victimizing mostly Indian nationals, businessmen and messengers of door-to-door delivery service.

“With the neutralization of this group, we hope that killings in Pangasinan will be minimized,” said P/Sr. Supt. Percival Barba, police provincial director,

The police confiscated from their possession the following: one caliber .45, one caliber .38 revolver, two magazines for caliber .45, two hand grenades, 18 live ammunitions for caliber .45 and 10 live ammunitions for caliber .38.

Barba also said police have been tracking the members of the gang for months in coordination with the police in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija provinces where the group also operates.
