UL, UPang renew fabled rivalry in PRISAA meet
TWO of the strongest collegiate teams hereabouts gird for action in the 19th season of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) cage tournament which reels off July 20 at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome.
The University of Luzon Golden Tigers., the grand slam tournament champion, will renew its fabled cage rivalry in the hard court with the University of Pangasinan Webczars in the long-drawn tournament.
UL Assistant Director for Sports Seato Gonimil said the Golden Tigers will gun for their 11th consecutive championship trophy and picked on the Webczars, last year’s third placer, to give them a tough fight.
However, Gonimil refuses to ignore Lyceum Northwestern Dukes, last year’s runner-up, who may pull another surprise and give his team a run for its money and the title.
Webczar’s coach Jay Ronquillo confirmed his team is fully prepared for grueling matches having started training and physical conditioning as early as April.
Headed by the team’s main men, Romnick Santillan, Carlo Cruz and Allan Roquin, the Webzars vowed to exact sweet revenge and end the domination of the Golden Tigers of Councilor Chito Samson.
Other teams seeing action in the PRISAA cage duel are AIE College’s Golden Eagles, Colegio de Dagupan’s Voltz, Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy’s Navigators, Pangasinan Institute of Marine Studies and Technology’s Marines, Pangasinan State University’s Red Warriors and AMA computer School- Gregor A.
